Guidelines for Contributors

Libri & Liberi is a peer-reviewed academic journal published twice a year in printed and electronic form by the Croatian Association of Researchers in Children's Literature. It is fully and permanently accessible online without any charges.

Expected contributions

Libri & Liberi publishes academic papers which have not been previously published or submitted to other publications at the same time. Papers presented at a conference, which are not to be published in conference proceedings, may also be considered. The authors are obliged to share this information about their proposal with the Editorial Board in advance.

Authors are also invited to submit book reviews, which should generally comprise 1000 to 2500 words.

Submitted articles will be reviewed by two or more independent referees and the authors will be given feedback within ten months of submission.

Potential authors are invited to contact the Editor-in-Chief at librietliberi@gmail.com to discuss the paper proposal before the final submission.

Submission guidelines

Manuscripts will only be considered if they are formatted in accordance with these guidelines and appropriate stylesheets. The authors may use the detailed stylesheet to install the Libri & Liberi styles in their Word software.

Manuscripts are to be submitted through the online editorial system available at www.librietliberi.org. The text should generally not exceed 10 000 words, excluding tables and references. Longer papers may also be considered. Potential authors should consult Editor-in-Chief if they intend to submit more extensive papers.

The language of the submitted papers may be English, German or Croatian. Language accuracy and appropriateness is the responsibility of the author. The papers need to be copyedited by a professional language editor, preferably also a native speaker of the language in question. Only well written papers will enter the reviewing procedure.

The manuscripts should be submitted as a Word document. The submitted manuscript should include: the title (and subtitle), abstracts, keywords, main text (including footnotes and positions of visual materials) and references. The title, subtitle, abstracts, keywords and references should also be copied into appropriate metadata frames.

Illustrations and photographs should be submitted in separate files. The preferred formats are tiff and jpg (high resolution and at least 300 dpi). Copyright clearance needs to be obtained by the author prior to publication (see Permission note template).

The title should not exceed 120 characters, spaces included. There may be a slightly longer subtitle if necessary.

An abstract of up to 150 words should clearly state the problem addressed by the paper, and include the results, main observations and conclusion. The abstract should be submitted in the same language as the paper, as well as in English if the paper is written in German or Croatian. If the paper is in English, the abstract will be translated into Croatian by Libri & Liberi.

Six keywords should be listed in alphabetical order in a separate paragraph, in the same language as the abstract.

The main text should be paginated, and the font should be Times New Roman. Font size of 12 points and a spacing of 1.5 should be used. Paragraphs need to be clearly separated. The title must be given in font size of 14 points. The title and the headings should be bolded.

References are cited in the text by name of author, year of publication, and page references,

e.g. (Surname yyyy: p) or (Surname and Surname yyyy: pp).

List of references at the end of the paper should include full bibliographic details of all references in alphabetical order of authors’ surnames and in chronological order for a single author. Full authors’ names need to be included. For example:
